From my first STL workshop where I met Joe, I was so impressed with how he always seemed to know
who might need help, often before the question was even asked! I knew after watching this happen
many times, that I would never hesitate to attend a workshop led by Joe. It is amazing how well he understands the behavior of each bird and animal being photographed,and knows how to “read the signs”, which put us in positions to get some unbelievable shots. It truly exceeded my expectations.  Not only is he a fantastic photographer and teacher, he’s also just a great guy. I am looking forward to my next
workshop with Joe.

Kind, gentle, talented, hardworking are the best terms that come to mind when I think of Joe. I first met Joe when we were both participants at a Yellowstone workshop a decade ago, and then as I am now, was awed by the images he produced as well as his gentle demeanor. Years later I learned that Joe was actually a workshop leader, and I have since joined him on several. If you want a workshop leader dedicated to getting you the best experience possible then his trips are for you.

Joe was a fantastic leader and instructor. Joe uses experience and knowledge of both the animals and photography to make sure you are getting the best images possible.It was like he knew what the elk were going to do before they did and that consistently put us in the right position to get the shot.

I have been on several trips with Joe over the last few years, and have always returned home with too many great images to process! More importantly I have so many great memories of the shared experiences of our groups. Joe works hard to make sure you have the best experience possible, and his knowledge of animal behavior and his ability to spot opportunities is second to none.

Joe is a great workshop leader. I have been on wood duck, black bear, wild horses and elk workshops with him. He does a great job scouting locations before we get to the workshop and I have always had many shooting opportunities on our targeted animal to photograph. Joe is easy going and fun to be with. He is also a fantastic photographer. I recently was with him photographing elk in Pennsylvania. Lots of fun.

A workshop with Joe is informative, exciting, educational, fulfilling and above all fun! I would highly recommend a workshop with Joe to anyone seeking an experiencing that will provide all of the above.

Joe  is a dedicated photography leader. He sincerely cares about each of his client’s workshop experience and the quality of the client’s resulting images. His experience in the field and his advance scouting preparation contribute to more frequent viewings and better photo opportunities. I have been on 3 workshops with Joe. In fact, my first ever workshop was with Joe to Bosque del Apache. I was a newbie and I found Joe to be patient, understanding and a great teacher. The atmosphere on Joe’s workshops is welcoming and friendly. Even as a newbie I felt equally as important as the very accomplished photographers in the group. Attention to detail is important to Joe and Amanda (Joe’s wife) therefore, accommodations are equally important and vetted by Joe and Amanda.
