Timed for the breeding season, this workshop offers thrilling opportunities to photograph massive males and mothers with cubs in action. With a small group setting, you’ll enjoy expert guidance, ethical wildlife viewing, and the chance to spot rare species like the endangered Red Wolf, coyotes, owls, and more. It’s a fun, educational adventure perfect for wildlife lovers and photographers alike!

Why Travel with Us: The team at Wild Shutter Adventures prides themselves on providing customized, small group, in field photography and camera instruction. Joe has scouted the locations, researched the weather and sun to provide photographers with the highest possibility of capturing the shots they desire.

Investment: $1,950

Deposit: A $750 non-refundable deposit is required. The balance is due 60 days before the date of the workshop and is then non-refundable. Deposits can be made via checks payable to Joe Subolefsky or PayPal/Credit Card (+3%).

Join us in coastal North Carolina for an unforgettable and educational wildlife photography adventure in the heart of black bear country—home to the highest concentration of black bears on the planet! This unique workshop offers an incredible opportunity to photograph these magnificent animals, some reaching a staggering 700 to 900 pounds, thanks to the region’s mild climate and abundant food supply.

Timed during the peak of the breeding season, you’ll witness massive males on the move and females emerging from the forest with their cubs to feed in open crop fields. These dynamic interactions provide exceptional chances to capture powerful and intimate images that truly reflect the spirit of the black bear.

Our small group format ensures personalized instruction and plenty of space to hone your photography skills in a respectful and ethical environment. Beyond bears, this trip is full of surprises—keep your lenses ready for a chance encounter with the critically endangered Red Wolf, elusive coyotes,owls, and fascinating reptiles.
