This action-packed expedition is your chance to photograph the mighty Pantanal Jaguar, nearly twice the size of its Amazon cousin, as we spend five days exploring the region’s riverways in boats designed for optimal shooting comfort.This trip is one of my all time favorites.
Capture Giant River Otters, Capybaras, Tapirs, Caimans, Hyacinth Macaws, Blue-and-Gold Macaws, and more in one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. You’ll also enjoy two exclusive night sessions to have the chance to photograph the elusive and beautiful Ocelot.

Dates: August 31- September 9 2026 Meet Joe the day before in the early evening in the hotel lobby. The adventure will conclude on day ten at the Cuiaba Airport.
Why Travel with Us: The team at Wild Shutter Adventures prides themselves on providing customized, small group, in field photography and camera instruction. Joe has scouted the locations, vetted local guides and researched the weather and sun to provide photographers with the highest possibility of capturing the shots they desire.
Cost: $10,000 Single supplement +$1,500
Deposit: A $2,500 non-refundable deposit is required. The balance is due 120 days before the date of the workshop and is then non-refundable. Deposits can be made via checks payable to Joe Subolefsky or PayPal/Credit Card (+3%).

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Embark on a thrilling and educational 10-day photography expedition into the heart of Brazil’s Pantanal—the largest wetland ecosystem on Earth and a true haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Designed for photographers of all levels, this workshop offers the rare opportunity to capture Brazil’s most iconic and elusive species in their natural habitat, all while exploring one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet.
The crown jewel of this adventure is the Pantanal Jaguar—the third largest big cat in the world and nearly twice the size of its Amazonian counterpart. We’ll spend five days navigating the river systems and interconnected waterways where jaguar sightings are frequent and photography conditions are exceptional. Each participant will have their own row in the boat, ensuring unobstructed views, shooting flexibility, and ample space for gear.
But jaguars are just the beginning. You’ll photograph Giant River Otters, Capybaras, Caimans, Tapirs, and a stunning array of birdlife, including Hyacinth and Blue-and-Gold Macaws.
The workshop also includes two evening sessions dedicated to photographing the secretive Ocelot—one of the Pantanal’s most elusive predators.
Throughout the journey, you’ll stay in comfortable, well-equipped lodges and be guided by knowledgeable, English-speaking local naturalists who will enhance your experience with expert insights into the region’s ecology and wildlife behavior.
This is more than just a photo trip—it’s a deep dive into one of the world’s most extraordinary ecosystems. Whether you’re looking to build your wildlife portfolio or simply experience the magic of the Pantanal, this expedition promises both adventure and education in equal measure.
Included: Photographic instruction; English speaking local guide, lodging based on double occupancy; meals and excursions at the lodges; private transportation, one client per row on the boat during all jaguar safaris
Not Included: Travel to Cuiaba, Brazil, hotel the night before the workshop begins , breakfast on the first morning, personal items, extra expenses, gratuity to local guides and boat captains, laundry
